Are There Laundry Rooms at Disney World Hotels?

Should You Do Laundry on Your Disney Vacation?

A lot of travelers cringe at the thought of doing laundry on vacation.

But in these days of airline luggage challenges and the desire to squeeze everything into a carry-on bag, doing laundry while on vacation can actually help to free up space in your luggage. If you pack half the stuff you need and then wash it halfway through, won’t you be ahead of the game?

But that’s not the only reason you may want to rethink doing laundry on a Disney vacation.

Why You Should Consider Doing Laundry on Your Walt Disney World Vacation?

Does doing laundry on your vacation really have benefits beyond saving space in your luggage? It does. You may not need to take advantage of the laundry facilities, but if something comes up, it’s good to know that they’re there as an option and a convenience.

Laundry at Walt Disney World Hotels

You may not know it (or even have thought about it), but every Walt Disney World hotel has a laundry room (or rooms) for guests to use.

Laundry rooms are available in hotels in all Walt Disney World hotel categories. For example, Pop Century has three laundry rooms and they’re open 24 hours.

These pay-for-use self-serve laundry facilities are available on a first-come first serve basis. You can find the locations of the laundry rooms in every Disney hotel by checking the Walt Disney World website (if you search for laundry, they’ll show you a hotel map with a pin), or by checking with the front desk Cast Members when you check in.

Why Do Laundry When You’re on Vacation?

Doing laundry on vacation sounds like a chore and an irritation that’s best left at home, but there are times when having access to a laundry room is a good thing. Even if you don’t want to pack less because you can do laundry mid-week and get a fully refreshed travel wardrobe, there are other reasons why you might need the laundry room.

Have you ever spilled something (or had a child who did) on one of your favorite Disney outfits? Chocolate ice cream on that brand new white t-shirt? A drip of grease from a tasty dish at an EPCOT festival? This is another scenario where a quick run to the laundry room can really save the day (and that piece of clothing). The faster you get that item in the wash, the better the chances that stain will come out.

Remember, the sink in your hotel bathroom isn’t really a great substitute (or even a good washing option), a washing machine will do a much better job.

How Much Does it Cost to Do Laundry at Walt Disney World?

While the exact cost can change over time, a load of laundry in a Disney hotel laundry room is approximately two dollars per wash load, or three dollars for a wash and dry, at the time of writing. You can buy soap as well, so it’s all provided in one place.

When is the Best Time of Day to Do Laundry at a Disney World Hotel?

While these things can vary because you can never fully predict the crowd levels in a laundry room, early morning is often best time to do laundry at Walt Disney World. Most guests are off to the parks or off to breakfast, so the laundry rooms can be less busy at this time. Put in a load of laundry and go grab a coffee or quick service breakfast.

Afternoon can be good as well, and you go spend a little time by the pool while your laundry is on.

Later in the evening is often the busiest times for the Disney hotel laundry rooms, so bear that in mind. If the laundry room happens to be close to your room, then you can always drop by to see how busy it is.

On a similar note, if you plan to do laundry during your Disney vacation, do a little advance scouting when you first get to the hotel to see which times are least busy in the laundry room. That way you will have a better idea of when may be the best time to do your laundry, when the time comes.

Disney Deluxe Villas and Laundry

One of the benefits of staying in a Disney Deluxe Villa is that the one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom villas all have washer/dryer units right in the room. Not only is this very convenient, but it is also free.

Studio Villas do not have in-room laundry, but they are laundry room facilities in the building.
