The much anticipated full-length feature film Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit movie theatres in Canada on Friday, June 2, 2017.
We got our first taste of Gal Gadot’s awesome portrayal of the Amazon Princess in Batman vs Superman in 2016 and we are now looking forward to the return of Gadot as Wonder Woman in her own full-length feature film.
Gal Gadot was without question a great choice to portray Wonder Woman. We are definitely looking forward to seeing more of what she has to offer as the title character in what promises to be an epic action adventure from Warner Bros.
The film will show more of the backstory of Wonder Woman as Diana, the Amazon Princess. As the story goes, Diana – as Princess of the Amazon – was trained to be an unconquerable warrior. She was raised on a sheltered island paradise cut off from the rest of the world. That is, until an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world. It is then that Diana decides to leave her home, convinced that she can help to stop the threat.
According to the official Warner Bros release for the film: “Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.“
We cannot wait to see how this all plays out. So far the trailers and film stills have all served to increase anticipation for what promises to be a stellar kick-off to the 2017 summer movie season.
Joining Gal Gadot in the on-screen are Chris Pine (the “Star Trek” films), Robin Wright (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (“Clash of the Titans,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, “The Theory of Everything”), Connie Nielsen (Fox’s “The Following,” “Gladiator”), Elena Anaya (“The Skin I Live In”), Ewen Bremner (“Exodus: Gods and Kings,” “Snowpiercer”), Lucy Davis (“Shaun of the Dead,” FX’s “Better Things”), Lisa Loven Kongsli (upcoming “Ashes in the Snow”), Eugene Brave Rock (AMC’s “Hell on Wheels”) and Saïd Taghmaoui (“American Hustle”).
Wonder Woman was directed by Patty Jenkins (“Monster,” AMC’s “The Killing”). The screenplay for Wonder Woman was written by Allan Heinberg, with story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg and Jason Fuchs. Of course, this is based on characters from DC Comics. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston (which is another very interesting story in and of itself).
The Wonder Woman film is produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Stephen Jones, Geoff Johns, Jon Berg, Wesley Coller and Rebecca Steel Roven serving as executive producers.
Joining Jenkins behind the camera are director of photography Matthew Jensen (“Chronicle,” “Fantastic Four,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (“Amélie,” “A Very Long Engagement,” “Pan”), Oscar-winning editor Martin Walsh (“Chicago,” “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” “V for Vendetta”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, “Topsy-Turvy”). The music is by composer Rupert Gregson-Williams (“Hacksaw Ridge,” “The Legend of Tarzan”).
You can learn more about the Wonder Woman movie, watch the latest movie trailers and read more about Wonder Woman at the official website. This won't be the last you will see of Wonder Woman this year either, as she is also set to appear in the much anticipated fall release of Justice League. It too has been generating a lot of buzz online.
Wonder Woman is presented by Warner Bros. Pictures, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production. The film is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
